Onkar Khullar, MD, MSc received his MD degree from Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, in 2006. He completed his internship and residency in general surgery at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and a two-year thoracic surgery research fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He joined Emory’s faculty after completing his cardiothoracic surgery fellowship at Emory University School of Medicine in 2016. In 2020 he completed a Master’s degree in Clinical Research at Emory University. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Surgery and a practicing general thoracic surgeon at Emory University School of Medicine. Over the last 3 years Dr. Khullar has worked to expand the availability and access to minimally invasive and robotic thoracic procedures to underserved members of the Atlanta community at the Atlanta VA and Grady Memorial Hospitals. He is currently the Associate Program Director for the Cardiothoracic Surgery Residency program. Dr. Khullar’s clinical specialties include video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery, robotic thoracic surgery, and lung and esophageal cancer treatment. His research interests are in thoracic quality and outcome improvements. He is an active member of the Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group and a leading investigator on several national clinical trials.
