Please explain the educational or technical point that this video addresses.: Innovate minimally invasive approach to the management of an aberrant artery causing esophageal compression.
Please provide a 250 word summary of the surgical video being submitted.: This video details the case of a 75 year old female with progressive dysphagia lusoria. We approach her treatment in two stages with a carotid-SC bypass then a robotic ligation and resection of the aberrant retro esophageal artery. We finish with a robotic intercostal flap for aortic stump coverage. This approach minimizes the risk of insufficiency to the hand while providing the benefit of removal of the pulsatile segment of artery compressing the esophagus. We discuss the preoperative finding, intraoperative pearls and key steps for safety.
Learning Objectives:
Recognize the CT findings consistent with dysphagia lusoria
Recognize the potential for direct intervention on the aberrant subclavian via the right chest
Describe the relationship of the aberrant subclavian to the esophagus in the right chest
