Amy G. Fiedler, MD is an Assistant Professor of Cardiac Surgery at The University of Wisconsin, Madison and Chief of Cardiac Surgery at the W. Middleton Veterans Adminstration Hospital. Her clinical practice is focused on adult cardiac surgery, heart transplantation, and mechanical circulatory support. Dr. Fiedler has a passion for health and human rights, global surgery, and the important intersection of technology and surgical education. A graduate of The George Washington University School of Medicine, Dr. Fiedler completed her General Surgery and Cardiothoracic Surgery residencies at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School in Boston, MA. Dr. Fiedler has extensively published and her research has been supported through the receipt of numerous grants from the Thoracic Surgery Research Foundation (TSF) and private industry. Dr. Fiedler’s leadership potential has been recognized by Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush as she was selected as one of 60 scholars across the nation to join the Presidential Leadership Scholars (PLS) Class of 2020. She is a member of the inaugural class of the LBJ Women’s Campaign School, a cohort of 50 women leaders tasked with promoting the presence of women in politics in a bipartisan fashion.
