Ram Kumar Subramanyan, MD, PhD, is an assistant professor of Surgery and Pediatrics at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California. Dr. Subramanyan completed his general surgery residency, cardiothoracic surgery training and Congenital Cardiac Surgery Fellowship at University of Southern California. He also completed a PhD in Pathobiology during his surgery residency.
Dr. Subramanyan has a robust practce in clinical congenital heart surgery at CHildren's Hopsital, Los Angeles. He runs a basic science research lab studying the mechanisms governing the development of heart and blood vessels, and their translational role in etiology and prognosis in congenital heart disease. Dr. Subramanyan is the current Chair of the STS Congenital Heart Surgery Database TaskForce, vice-chair of the National Database WorkForce and a member of Congenital Heart Surgery WorkForce. He is also the congenital editor of the Seminars in Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, apart from being on the editorial board of several cardiothoracic surgical journals. Dr. Subramanyan has over 100 peer-reviewed publications, has co-authored two books, and several textbook chapters.
